Habit. Annual.
Culms erect, 50–60 cm tall, 2–3 -noded. Mid-culm nodes glabrous. Lateral
branches simple. Leaf-sheaths smooth, glabrous on surface. Ligule a fringe of
hairs, 0.1–0.2 mm long. Leaf-blades straight, flat, 4–8 cm long, 1–1.5 mm wide.
Leaf-blade surface smooth, glabrous.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle oblong, loose, 18–30 cm long, 5–6 cm
wide.

Spikelets.
Spikelets sessile and pedicelled. Fertile spikelets usually 1-flowered,
comprising 1 fertile floret(s) (rarely 2), without rachilla extension,
elliptic, terete, 0.8–1.1 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
similar. Lower glume lanceolate, hyaline, keeled, 1-keeled, 1 -nerved. Upper
glume lanceolate, 0.7–0.9 mm long, hyaline, keeled, 1-keeled, 1 -nerved.

Florets.
Fertile lemma 0.7–0.8 mm long, keeled. Palea 2 -nerved. Grain 0.5 mm long.
