Habit. Annual.
Culms erect, 20–60 cm tall, 0 -noded. Lateral branches sparsely branched.
Ligule a fringe of hairs, 2–2.5 mm long. Leaf-blades flexuous, flat, 5–9 cm
long, 2–3 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface smooth, glabrous.
Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle 18–25 cm long, 2–4 cm wide.
Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets many flowered, with at least 2 fertile
florets, comprising 7–40 fertile floret(s), with diminished florets at the
apex, elliptic or oblong or ovate, laterally compressed, 5–14 mm long.
Glumes. Glumes
similar. Lower glume ovate, membranous, keeled, 1-keeled, 1 -nerved. Upper
glume ovate, 1.5–1.6 mm long, membranous, keeled, 1-keeled, 3 -nerved.
Florets.
Fertile lemma 2–2.5 mm long, without keel, 3 -nerved. Palea 2 -nerved. Palea apex entire. Lodicules
present. Anthers 2. Grain 0.5 mm long.
