Habit.
Perennial. Culms stature robust to moderate, 100–200 cm tall. Ligule an
eciliate membrane, lacerate. Leaf-blades 10–25 mm wide.

Inflorescence.
Racemes 10–16, spreading or drooping, 7–15 cm long, 3.5–4 mm wide. Central
inflorescence axis 15–30 cm long.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets comprising 1 fertile floret(s), without
rachilla extension, elliptic or obovate, dorsally compressed, 2.2–2.5 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
thinner than fertile lemma. Upper glume oblong, membranous, without keels, 3
-nerved. Florets. Basal sterile florets 1, barren, without significant
palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret 200 % of length of spikelet, 3 -nerved.

Fertile lemma 2.2–2.5
mm long, without keel.
