Habit. Annual.
Culms geniculately ascending or aquatic, stature slender to delicate, 26–44 cm
tall. Mid-culm nodes glabrous. Lateral branches simple. Leaf-sheaths glabrous
on surface. Ligule a fringe of hairs, 1.5–1.7 mm long. Leaf-blades lanceolate,
2.5–5.5 cm long, 7–13 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle ovate, 3.5–4 cm long, 1–3 cm wide.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets 2-flowered, both fertile (?),
comprising 2 fertile floret(s), without rachilla extension, lanceolate,
dorsally compressed, 2.5–2.8 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
similar, firmer than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate, coriaceous, without
keels, 7–8 -nerved. Lower glume surface indumented. Upper glume lanceolate, 2.8
mm long, coriaceous, without keels, 9 -nerved. Upper glume surface indumented. Florets.
Basal sterile florets 1, barren, with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret 50 %
of length of spikelet, coriaceous, 5 -nerved. Fertile florets bisexual.

Fertile
lemma 1.5 mm long, without keel, 3 -nerved. Lemma surface glabrous. Lemma apex
round at apex. Palea present, 2 -nerved. Anthers 3.
