Habit.
Perennial. Culms decumbent, 30–50 cm tall, 4–8 -noded. Ligule an eciliate
membrane, 1–1.5 mm long. Leaf-blades 2–6 cm long, 2–4 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface
smooth, glabrous.

Inflorescence.
Racemes 2–4, spreading, 6–10 cm long, bearing 26–32 fertile spikelets on each.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled, 2 in the cluster. Fertile spikelets comprising 1 basal
sterile florets, 1 fertile floret(s), without rachilla extension, lanceolate,
dorsally compressed, 3.5–4 mm long.

Glumes.
Glumes thinner than fertile lemma, dull. Lower glume oblate, membranous, 0
-nerved. Lower glume surface glabrous. Upper glume lanceolate, 2.5 mm long,
membranous, 1-keeled, 5 -nerved. Upper glume surface glabrous or indumented. Florets.
Basal sterile florets 1, barren, without significant palea. Lemma of lower
sterile floret 1 % of length of spikelet, membranous, 7 -nerved.

Fertile lemma 3.5–4 mm
long, without keel.
