Habit.
Perennial. Culms 1000 cm tall, 60 mm diam. Mid-culm internodes glabrous.
Leaf-sheath auricles present. Ligule an eciliate membrane, entire. Leaf-blades
linear, 30 cm long, 45 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface indumented.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle.

Spikelets.
Fertile spikelets (10–)15–40 mm long.

Glumes. Lower
glume 7 -nerved. Upper glume 2.5–3 mm long, 7–9 -nerved.

Florets.
Fertile lemma 7–8 mm long, without keel, 14–16 -nerved. Palea 11–16 -nerved.
