Habit.
Perennial. Culms erect, 15–60 cm tall. Leaves mostly basal. Ligule a fringe of
hairs. Leaf-blades involute, 3–20 cm long, 1–3 mm wide.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence solid, a raceme. Racemes 1, linear, 0.8–7 cm long.

Spikelets.
Spikelets sessile. Fertile spikelets many flowered, with at least 2 fertile
florets (3–14), comprising 3–14 fertile floret(s), with diminished florets at
the apex, ovate to orbicular, laterally compressed, 5–10 mm long.

Glumes.
Glumes similar, similar to fertile lemma in texture. Lower glume ovate,
coriaceous, keeled, 1-keeled, 5 -nerved. Lower glume surface glabrous. Upper
glume ovate, coriaceous, keeled, 1-keeled, 5 -nerved. Upper glume surface
glabrous.

Florets.
Fertile lemma 4–6 mm long, without keel, 7 -nerved. Lemma surface glabrous or
indumented. Palea 2 -nerved. Lodicules present. Grain 1.2–1.7 mm long.

Notes. Weedy in
Western Australia and Victoria, often on disturbed ground or under light
