Habit.
Perennial. Culms prostrate, 15–40 cm tall, 7–14 -noded. Mid-culm nodes
pubescent. Ligule an eciliate membrane, 0.2–0.3 mm long. Leaf-blades 1–6 cm
long, 0.5–1.5 mm wide.

Inflorescence.
Racemes numerous, spreading, 2–3 cm long, bearing 2–4 fertile spikelets on
each. Central inflorescence axis 2–5 cm long.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets comprising 1 basal sterile florets, 1
fertile floret(s), without rachilla extension, lanceolate, dorsally compressed,
4–5 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
dissimilar, similar to fertile lemma in texture, dull. Lower glume oblong,
hyaline, without keels, 0 -nerved. Upper glume lanceolate, 4–5 mm long,
membranous, 1-keeled, 13–15 -nerved. Upper glume surface smooth or scabrous. Florets.
Basal sterile florets 1, male, with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret
0.6–0.7 % of length of spikelet, membranous, 7 -nerved.

Fertile lemma 1.5–1.7
mm long, without keel. Palea without keels. Anthers 2.
