Habit.
Perennial. Rhizomes present, short or elongated. Culms erect, 14–75 cm tall,
5–9 -noded. Mid-culm internodes pubescent. Lateral branches simple or sparsely
branched. Leaves cauline. Leaf-sheaths smooth or scaberulous, glabrous on
surface. Ligule an eciliate membrane or a fringed membrane, a ciliolate
membrane, 0.1–7 mm long, abaxially hairy or abaxially pilose, truncate or
obtuse or acute. Leaf-blades flat or conduplicate, 6–20 cm long, 1.3–4 mm wide.
Leaf-blade surface smooth or scabrous.
Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle lanceolate, 1.5–20 cm long.
Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets many flowered, with at least 2 fertile
florets (2–6), comprising 2–6 fertile floret(s), with diminished florets at the
apex, oblong, laterally compressed, 3–5.5 mm long.

similar. Lower glume oblong, membranous, keeled, 1-keeled, 1–3 -nerved. Upper
glume oblong, 1.9–3.5 mm long, membranous, keeled, 1-keeled, 3 -nerved.
