Habit. Annual.
Culms erect, 6–16 cm tall, 2–3 -noded. Mid-culm nodes glabrous. Lateral
branches simple. Leaf-sheaths hairy. Ligule a fringe of hairs, 0.2–0.3 mm long.
Leaf-blades involute, 1–3 cm long, 0.5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface smooth,
indumented.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, of only a few spikelets.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets 2-flowered, both fertile, comprising 2
fertile floret(s), without rachilla extension, ovate, laterally compressed,
6.5–7 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
similar, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume lanceolate or obovate,
membranous, without keels, 11 -nerved. Lower glume apex muticous. Upper glume
lanceolate or obovate, 5–6 mm long, membranous, without keels, 11 -nerved.
Upper glume apex mucronate.

Florets.
Fertile lemma 7–8 mm long, without keel, 5 -nerved. Lemma surface glabrous.
Lemma apex awned, 1 -awned. Median (principal) awn 1.5–2.5 mm long overall.
Palea 2 -nerved. Palea apex entire. Anthers 3.
