Habit.
Perennial. Culms erect, 30–40 cm tall, 3–4 -noded. Mid-culm nodes glabrous.
Leaf-sheaths glabrous on surface. Ligule a fringe of hairs. Leaf-blades 4–10 cm
long, 0.5–1 mm wide.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence compound, a panicle. Panicle ovate, 4–8 cm long, 2–5 cm wide.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets 2-flowered, both fertile, comprising 2
fertile floret(s), without rachilla extension, ovate, 2.5–3 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
similar, thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume membranous. Upper glume
membranous.

Florets.
Fertile lemma without keel, 5 -nerved. Lemma apex muticous. Palea 2 -nerved.
