Notes.  Distinguished from var. nlemfuensis
by the stouter woodier culms, more slender spikes/racemes, and generally wider
leaf blades. C. nlemfuensis var. robustus has been experimentally
crossed with var. nlemfuensis and also with C. dactylon var. dactylon.

Introduced. SE Qld.
Eastern Africa - Ethiopia to
Zimbabwe;
introduced elsewhere as a fodder grass. Only one collection known from a
naturalized population growing on embankments in solodic soil of low fertility.
