Derivation:
from the Latin repo (crawl). Rhizome well-developed.

Habit.
Perennial. Stolons present. Culms decumbent, 18–24 cm tall, 3–4 -noded. Lateral
branches sparsely branched. Ligule a fringe of hairs, 0.2 mm long. Leaf-blades
linear, 0.5–6 cm long, 1–1.5 mm wide. Leaf-blade surface glabrous.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence solid, a panicle. Panicle linear, 1.5 cm long.

Spikelets.
Spikelets pedicelled. Fertile spikelets 2-flowered, the lower floret barren
(rarely male), the upper fertile, comprising 1 basal sterile florets,
comprising 1 fertile floret(s) (upper), without rachilla extension, elliptic,
laterally compressed, 3–3.5 mm long.

Glumes.
Glumes thinner than fertile lemma. Lower glume ovate, chartaceous, 5–7 -nerved.
Lower glume surface glabrous. Upper glume elliptic, 3 mm long, chartaceous,
without keels, 9 -nerved. Upper glume surface glabrous or indumented. Florets.
Basal sterile florets 1, male, with palea. Lemma of lower sterile floret 100 %
of length of spikelet, chartaceous, 9 -nerved.

Fertile lemma 1.5 mm
long, without keel, 5 -nerved. Lodicules present. Anthers 3.
