Habit. Annual.
Culms 15–40 cm tall. Leaf-sheath auricles present. Ligule an eciliate membrane,
0.75 mm long, hyaline, truncate. Leaf-blades flat, 2–6.3 cm long, 6–8 mm wide.
Leaf-blade surface indumented.

Inflorescence.
Inflorescence solid, a raceme. Racemes 1, oblong, 0.9–1.7 cm long, bearing
20–23 fertile spikelets on each.

Spikelets.
Spikelets sessile. Fertile spikelets many flowered, with at least 2 fertile
florets (2–3), comprising 2–3 fertile floret(s), with diminished florets at the
apex, oblong, laterally compressed, 6–10 mm long.

Glumes. Glumes
similar. Lower glume lanceolate or ovate, cartilaginous or coriaceous, keeled,
1-keeled, 1 -nerved. Lower glume apex muticous. Upper glume lanceolate, 4–6 mm
long, coriaceous, keeled, 1-keeled, 1 -nerved.

Florets.
Fertile lemma 5–6 mm long, keeled, 5 -nerved. Lemma surface glabrous. Lemma
apex muticous or mucronate.

: New South Wales.

Notes. Eremopyrum
triceum
is recorded as being present in N.S.W. (Hnatiuk, 1990), but was not
treated in the Flora of New South Wales (1993). Its inclusion here is based on
a single specimen which may have escaped from cultivation. This species does
not appear to have become naturalised in Australia. Flowers: Nov.
