: Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland.

Notes.
Intermediate between Y. australiensis and Y. pauciflora. A
generally more profusely branching pattern and smaller spikelet size
distinguishes it from Y. pauciflora; whereas a more exserted
inflorescence and spreading primary branches separate it from var. australiensis.
The more open form of its inflorescence and usually larger plants may be the
result of this taxon generally occurring in less arid areas.

In tropical and
subtropical sub-humid woodlands, arid and semi-arid low woodlands, arid hummock
grasslands, and tropical sub-humid grasslands.
